Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) is also known as Photo-biomodulation or Photo-biostimulation and is used to stimulate and enhance cell function. The specific wavelength approved for stimulating Hair Growth is 630nm-670nm because it has the ability to be absorbed by the molecules of the hair follicle and can therefore penetrate the scalp to stimulate the epidermal stem cells to regenerate the hair follicles.

The increase in blood flow to the area promotes the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to the hair follicles. LLLT influences the metabolic process, specifically the mitochondria. It stimulates the production of Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP) by opening the cytochrome coxidase pathway. The function of ATP is to transport chemical energy within cells for metabolism.

Low Level Laser Therapy is the only non-medication treatment approved by the FDA and has no adverse side effects. Due to the type of Laser diodes used there is no burning, cutting or pain. These types of devices are referred to as ‘cool’ lasers for this reason.
